Powerboat Safety
Earn Your Florida Boating Safety ID Card
Edison Sailing Center's Powerboat Safety Program gives students the knowledge and confidence they need to operate a boat safely and responsibly on Florida waterways. Offered in conjunction with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), this course allows eligible students to earn their official Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card—often referred to as a Florida boating license. Through engaging, hands-on instruction, students learn essential boating skills including navigation rules, safety equipment, responsible operation, and emergency procedures. Lessons combine classroom learning with real-world applications to ensure students truly understand how to stay safe on the water. Students must demonstrate NASBLA's 32 on-the-water standards at a satisfactory level. Designed to be informative, interactive, and age-appropriate, this program not only meets Florida's boating education requirements but also reinforces Edison Sailing Center's core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience. Whether students are new to boating or preparing to spend more time on the water, this course sets them up for a lifetime of safe and confident boating.

Florida Law: Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988, must carry a valid Boating Safety ID Card to operate a motorboat in Florida.
