Instructor Certification
From student to teacher — grow your sailing leadership
At age 16, students who have shown interest in and embody our three pillars are offered an opportunity to earn their US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification. At Edison Sailing Center, earning a US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification is an important step in our youth leadership development pathway. This nationally recognized certification equips young sailors with essential teaching, safety, and communication skills while reinforcing responsibility, professionalism, and confidence on and off the water. Through this program, participants grow from students into role models—learning how to lead by example, mentor younger sailors, and uphold the highest standards of seamanship and safety.
